What is a Pallet Wrapping Machine?

A Pallet Wrapping Machine, also known as a stretch wrapping machine or pallet stretch wrapper, is used to wrap palletised goods in stretch film to help secure and stabilise the load for storage and transport.

A typical pallet wrapping machine consists of a turntable, mast, film carriage and control panel. A roll of machine pallet wrap is loaded into the film carriage, and the pallet is positioned on the turntable. The operator then attaches the end of the stretch film to the base of the pallet and starts the wrapping cycle using the control panel.

During operation, the turntable rotates the pallet while the film carriage dispenses the pallet wrap. At the same time, the film carriage travels up and down the mast, allowing the stretch film to be applied evenly around the pallet from the base to the top and back down again.

This automated wrapping process creates a consistent and secure load while reducing the physical effort and time required compared with wrapping pallets by hand. Pallet wrapping machines are commonly used in warehouses, distribution centres and manufacturing facilities where pallets need to be wrapped regularly.

As an alternative to a free standing semi automatic or automatic pallet wrapping machine, there are also robot pallet wrappers and manual pallet wrapping machines.

A robot pallet wrapper, or robotic pallet wrapping machine, automatically travels around the pallet while dispensing stretch film to wrap and secure the load. This makes it particularly useful for oversized, heavy or irregularly shaped pallets that may not be suitable for a turntable machine.

A manual pallet wrapper is a simpler, trolley-style system that is pushed around the pallet by the operator while the stretch film is dispensed and applied to the load.
