Poly Tubing | Polythene Layflat Tubing | Plastic Sleeve
Plastic Lay Flat Tubing for Packaging - Plastic Tubing
Polythene Layflat Tubing or Poly Tubing
Poly tubing or polythene lay flat tubing or continuous tubing, is a versatile packaging solution available in various roll widths and thicknesses to accommodate products of different sizes and lengths. Typically made from clear LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene), this tubing can also be produced in custom colours or with your company logo printed on it to align with your packaging needs. One of the key advantages of poly tubing is its ease of use. It can be effortlessly cut to the desired length and sealed using an impulse sealer, creating custom plastic bags tailored to your specifications. Alternatively, depending on your preference and requirements, you can opt for sealing methods like tape or staples. Polytubing finds its application in the packaging of various items, especially those that are long or irregularly shaped. For instance, it's commonly employed to package items like posters or fishing rods due to its flexibility and adaptability. The higher the Um, the thicker the film is and the fewer metres per roll.
Poly Tubing is sold in Rolls of 10kg or 20kg

The measurement or size of poly tubing is the Layflat size.
To accurately measure poly tubing, following these steps is crucial to determine the appropriate width for your specific application. The width of polyethylene tubing is measured when it's laid flat.
1. Lay the Poly Tubing Flat:
Start by laying out the poly tubing on a clean and flat surface, ensuring it is free from any wrinkles or folds. This step is essential for an accurate measurement.
2. Measure the Width (W):
Use a reliable measuring tool such as a ruler or a measuring tape to determine the width of the poly tubing. Make sure to measure from one edge of the tubing to the opposite edge. Record this width measurement (W) in inches or centimetres.
3. Calculate the Diameter of Layflat Tube:
To find the diameter of the layflat tube, you can use a simple mathematical formula. Multiply the width (W) you obtained in steps 2 by 2, then divide the result by 3.142 (π).
Diameter (D) = (2 * W) / 3.142
This calculation will give you the diameter of the layflat tube in the same units (inches or centimetres) as the width measurement you initially took.
By following these steps and using the provided formula, you can accurately measure poly tubing and determine the appropriate size for your specific needs, avoiding common mistakes in the process.
